Table Tennis Training - Preparing With Stamina Tournaments

Table Tennis Training

Table Tennis Training There are several tournaments each year (Baltimore Teams, National Team Trials, Giant Round Robins, for example) that require more than just a few matches. Theses endurance tournaments require extra effort because of the sheer number of matches. You can't prepare for endurance tournaments in the same manner as other tournaments.

The main difference between endurance tournaments and other tournaments is the abundant need of stamina: not only physical stamina, but emotional and mental stamina as well. To prepare for an abundance tournament, the key is to increase the duration of your training; that means trying to practice in increasing lengths of time while maintaining focused concentration for the entire period. In a typical tournament you might only have to play a few matches, and so physical and mental demands are not pushed beyond your threshold.

However, when a tournament demands more matches than you are accustomed to and you surpass your threshold, the end result is physical and mental fatigue and may result in losses

Beginner's Methods For Ping Pong

Ping Pong For Beginners

Ping Pong is a simple and fun game that isn't quite as demanding as some other types of sports. You can play it indoors, in any weather, and with minimal space, equipment and training. You don't need to be incredibly fast, strong, or capable of running for hours on end to do it either, you just need a decent amount of stamina, good reflexes, and a fast mind. These factors add to the overall appeal of ping pong, and is a reason why a lot of personal gyms in people's houses will either have a Ping Pong table or a billiards table (billiards sharing much the same factors as ping pong). The first thing you'll need to know about Ping Pong is the equipment.

A ping pong table, net, a ball, and two paddles are all you need. Period. For keeping score, a simple notebook and pen will do, unless you want to buy a chalk scoreboard or something. Aside from those basic essentials, there's nothing else for you to invest in initially. The second thing to think about is clothing - almost anything will do as long as you can move about freely in it. Most people wear simple sneakers, shorts, and a tee shirt. Jogging pants will do too. Unlike more active sports like basketball and running, where shoes are designed to be high impact with special soles and other fancy features, you just need shoes that are comfy. Same goes with the shorts/jogging pants and tee shirt. No special materials needed, no anti-rip extended wear and tear ultra-mesh-fiber-super-high-tech stuff needed.

Pick anything out of your closet and you're done! Now we get to the basic physical requirements. As long as you jog a bit from time to time and can walk up and down several flights of stairs without being reduced to a wheezing bag of blubber, you'll be fine. The average person can get into ping pong quickly. The most important physical factors for ping pong are quick reflexes, agile wrists, and good balance. Of course, if you've got two left feet that's a different story... Otherwise, if your balance and reflexes are decent you'll do. The main reason for the need for reflexes is obvious - the basic objective of ping pong is to thwack a little ball repeatedly between you and your opponent until one of you fumbles and misses swatting the ball. Poor reflexes means you'll probably miss a shot. The need for quick wrists is because a majority of the action of hitting the ball in ping pong is controlled by the paddle's angle - which is, of course, adjusted by your wrists. As for the balance factor, you'll need to be moderately fast on your feet to

The Right Way To Decide On The Sure Ping Pong Table

Sure Thing Of Ping Pong Table

For choosing right Ping Pong Table you should consider several factors when purchasing it. Many people buy their first Table before they are familiar with the sport, so they may not have a good understanding of what they need and what to look for. Furthermore, you may want to consider who will be using the Ping Pong table, and where it will be located.

Take a look at your budget, your personal wants and needs, and what is available in your area when you shop. One of the first considerations when shopping for a Tennis Table is whether you will be leaving your table set up all the time, or whether you will need to fold it up and put it away. You can find affordable and good quality tables in both styles.

A fold up model with rollers and brakes will be the easiest to set up and break down should you need to choose one that will not be up and available at all times. You may

Table Tennis History - The Evolution of Table Tennis in Europe

Table Tennis History

Needs to be General PA'd for KW stuffing in the RB - these are the exact same terms the author uses in the KW box.
The sport of Table Tennis has a long and storied history. It was most likely derived from a game known as "Royal Tennis" that was played in Europe during medieval times around the 12th century AD. In the 1880's a form of the game was frequently played by members of England's upper class as an after dinner social activity. Dinner tables would be turned into playing surfaces, with piles of books being used as the "net" and household items acting as rackets. In 1890, an indoor gaming set was created by David Foster and patented in England. It included table versions of tennis, cricket, and football. In 1891, John Jacques of London released a game called "Gossima", a game that included paddles, a web-wrapped cork ball, and a net.

The discovery of hollow celluloid balls in England in 1900 by James Gibb ushered in a new era in the tabletop sport's history. This new type of ball was reported to be the catalyst for the name "Ping Pong" because of the sound it made when it came into contact with the drum paddles in use at the time. In 1901 the name "Ping Pong" was registered as a trade name in England. Popularity of the game was high during this time. The Table Tennis Association and the Ping Pong Association were both formed in England in December of 1901.

As game competition increased, players began to experiment with materials and equipment trying to make the game faster and more entertaining. E.C. Goode from England is credited with placing pebbled rubber on his blade in 1902, the result was more spin on the ball. This small change had the consequence of speeding game-play dramatically. This discovery was the inspiration for the pimpled rubber racket, which was the primary type of Table Tennis racket used until 1952.

After a few years of intense popularity, the game began to fade away in the vast majority of Europe. A few clusters of die-hard fans remained intact in Eastern Europe. After more than a decade long decline a revival took place in the early 1920's. During this time the first set of standardized laws for the game were established in England. The International Table Tennis Federation was formed in Berlin in1926 with representatives from Germany, Hungary, England, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, India, Sweden, and Wales as founding members. The ITTF adopted England's standardized laws for international play. The first international tournament was held in 1926 in Berlin. The ITTF continues to be the governing body of the sport today.

The 1920's through the 1950's are known as the Classic Hard Bat Era. This was a time of European Dominance. From 1926 through 1931 Maria Mednyanszky from Hungary was the World Champion for five consecutive years. From 1930 through 1935 Victor Barna of Hungary was the World Champion five times, losing only once, in 1931 to his countryman Miklos Szabadoz. European players dominated the field until 1952 when Jiroji Satoh of Japan, with his sponge-covered racket, became the first non-European player to win a championship. In 1958 the first European Championships were held in Budapest Hungary. The USSR made their first appearance at an international tournament during this time.

The year 1971 started a decade-long reign for Swedish players and the beginning of the end of European Dominance. This era produced such Swedish greats as Stellan Bengtsson, Jan-Ove Waldner, Jörgen Persson, and Peter Karlsson, to name a few. In 1977, the ITTF received official recognition by the International Olympic Committee, enabling them to pursue adding the tabletop sport to the Olympic Program. The ITTF chose not to do so at the time. It would be another eleven years before the game debuted as an Olympic Sport. As it continued to gain popularity around the globe, China began to dominate international competitions and stole the championship reigns from their European counterparts. Their reign at the top of the world rankings has remained consistent to this day.

Table Tennis History - Table Tennis Vs Ping Pong

Table Tennis Vs Ping Pong

Table Tennis or Ping Pong (referred to as t-term and p-term, respectively, throughout this article so as to avoid excessive keyword phrase use): which is the correct term to describe the Olympic sport loved by many around the world? Depending upon whom you ask, you will probably get a different answer. Some people believe the t-term is the proper name to use when referring to a more serious level of play. Athletes who train for hours each day train to play table tennis, not ping pong - according to some.

The p-term is a more relaxed term used to describe the recreational player. The group of kids playing in the basement or garage are playing ping pong - again, the opinion of some. This logic is shared by many around the world, the exception is China were the p-term is still an honorable title for a sport which they dominate. The truth is that the sport and the game were once considered to be one in the same, and the terms are still used interchangeably by many.

The t-term was first used in 1887 on a board game created by J.H. Singer in New York. The p-term was not registered as a trade name until 1901 by John Jacques in England. He later sold the rights to the American gaming company Parker Brothers. This was a time of intense popularity for the game, and it was known by both names. At the height of its popularity, in December 1901, "The Table Tennis Association" and "The Ping-Pong Association" were formed in England. The two associations merged in 1903 to form "The United Table Tennis and Ping Pong Association". This would seem to indicate that, at the time, the two terms were used to describe the same activity.

As interest in the game began to diminish, the association became defunct in 1904. When interest in the sport began to revive in the 1920s, it became referred to more often using the t-term simply to avoid trademark disputes with Parker Brothers'. The company was extremely aggressive in protecting their rights to the p-term and threatened legal action when necessary. This fear of trademark infringement might explain why the governing body of the sport, the ITTF, uses the t-term instead of the p-term in its title.

Without question, a major divide was created when manufacturers were no longer able to use the p-term when describing equipment they manufactured for the sport. Manufacturers began to label their items with the t-term. At that time there was not a difference between the equipment other than the branding. Parker Brothers' simple act of trademarking and prohibiting use of the p-term created two camps of players.

In 1935, as pockets of players began to form around the United States, The American Ping Pong Association, whose members could afford to use the more expensive Parker Brothers' equipment, the US Amateur Table Tennis Association, and the National Table Tennis Association merged to form the USATT [http://www.usatt.org/]. The hope was that one association would be more effective in setting guidelines and meeting expectations for the sport. People continued then, and continue to this day to use both terms to describe the sport.

Whichever term you choose to use, just continue to play and encourage others to join you. Promotion of the sport, using whichever name you choose, is more important than a fight over the name.

Ping Ponger. You might laugh but I'm not kidding. My Table Tennis Table gets a lot of love, at least a few times a week. First, The Rules What makes a match? Like it's cousin, tennis, a pingpong match consists of the best three out of five, four out of seven or the best five out of nine games played between two people. The winner is determined by the first player to reach eleven points with a two point spread. Unlike tennis, however, points can be achieved any time when the ball is in play (rather than on an individual's serve). Each player serves two rallies (the period of time in which the ball is "in play") in a row until the score reaches ten to ten. Once the game reaches a score of ten to ten, players take turns serving until someone wins. After the game ends in the match, players switch sides. In the last game, however, sides are switched after the first five points.

This ensures a more evenly keeled game. Simple Rules Simple Guidelines When playing with two players (a singles game), the edges of the Table and center lines aren't relevant and the ball is considered "in play" when anywhere on the table. A legal serve rises six inches into the air, after having been served palm up, and allowed to bounce on the table before being served to the receiver. Choosing An Outdoor Ping Pong Page

Choosing Ping Pong Table

In the late 1800's the game of Ping Pong began in Britain as a part of game involving books and golf balls. The game, also called Table Tennis, has been successful for over a century and is popular both as a professional sport and as a commercial game.

Buying an outdoor Ping Pong table will give you an opportunity to entertain your friends and families for a long time. It is a fairly simple game. It requires a ball, paddles and the flat top that is split into two parts. Your typical outdoor system comes with weather sealing and an option of wheels.

This gives you a little more flexibility with where you can put the game that you purchase. There are different options for style and color when it comes to buying your game. They also vary in quality and durability depending on how much you are willing to spend and which product you buy. If you are looking to spend money on the game it is worth finding one that will bring you pleasure for a long time.

The better the value, the better the investment. An important item to consider is whether you want to opt for one with wheels or whether you want to opt for a stationary one. Stationary ones sometimes offer more variety in appearance, but movable ones offer you the flexibility. You may also want to note that not every option is easy to store. Some do not even offer the possibility of folding so be sure to check exactly what options a table has before making a purchase.

You do not want to spend money only to find out that a significant feature you hoped for is not available. Common colors to choose from are green, black and blue table

Table Tennis Training - Don't Let Expectations Ruin Your Game

Table Tennis Training

After a period of successful tournaments and high-level play, you sometimes expect to be able to play at that level any time. This expectation can eventually become your downfall. With this added expectation comes the pressure of performing at the level you're accustomed to. The added personal pressure leads to poor decision-making, a lack of relaxation, and ultimately to your playing well below your newly attained level. Once you start playing poorly, you will get frustrated that you are not playing your usual game. This leads to more bad losses and results and the downward spiral continues.

The only way to get out of the cycle is to take a step back and analyze how and why you are playing so poorly. Is it your training method? If you have experienced a steady gain in your level over time and your results up to this point have been good, then it probably isn't how you're training. Most of the time the cause for a sudden period of poor results can be summarized in one word: expectations.

Before your winning streak began you were training and working hard to improve your weaknesses. You went to a tournament hoping that your training would pay off, but you weren't really sure if it would. In other words, your expectations for yourself and your game were relatively low, and so you were relaxed and focused on just playing the best table Tennis that you could. There was no pressure and no fear, which is the exact reason you played so well. As soon as you began to have expectations, you started feeling the added pressure, and playing table Tennis with too much pressure will almost always lead to poor results. So, instead of playing with the expectation of winning, play to improve your game, and you will consistently play at your best.

Table Tennis Training - How to Find the Right Table Tennis Club For You

How to Find the Right Table

Table tennis enthusiasts enjoy finding new and more challenging opponents to compete against. One place to turn is their local Table tennis club. Clubs can be found in many communities around the globe. A search on the USATT website will point you in the right direction to a club near you. Most clubs have membership fees to help cover overhead such as building costs, staffing and administration costs, etc. Some clubs are open to members only while others are open to the public. Some require annual membership fees and some charge per activity.

It is important to decide which features matter most to you before joining a club. Do you want a club that is open to everyone or one that is a member only facility? Are you looking for a place for a fun pick-up game or do you want a club that is staffed with an employee who arranges matches between players with comparable skills? Do you want a professional coaching staff or a club for casual players? The type of club that is the best fit for your neighbor may not be the club that best meets your needs and expectations. It is always a good idea to research club options before signing up for a membership. Most clubs will permit you to visit as a guest so that you can decide whether or not the club is compatible with your Table tennis life. If you do not find a club that meets your needs, consider starting a new one.

Most clubs provide a variety of Training opportunities. Often, clubs hire experienced players to teach lessons or hold clinics at the club. Talented players who are interested in becoming coaches can train and become certified coaches at clubs offering these services. A number of clubs utilize robots for independent Training sessions. Coaches and trainers might also use robots to repeatedly serve the ball in an exact way over and over again so that they can instruct the player on the best way to respond. Robot Training sessions may run a half hour or full hour. Fees can range from a few dollars to $15 per session. Members may receive discounted rates.

Small clubs without major sponsorship or contributors may have minimal space and equipment. Often, it is the desire of these clubs to remain small and intimate but other times this is simply a starting point for newly formed clubs. Some clubs meet at area schools and community centers while others are housed in permanent structures. Clubs that meet at schools or community centers may only meet once or twice a week with a schedule of limited activities such as open play or group lessons. Clubs that are located in a dedicated space and outfitted with professional equipment are more likely to offer open play, private and group lessons, clinics, robot training sessions, and league play on a weekly basis.

Membership fees for clubs will vary depending upon location, type of club, and services offered. Annual fees range from $50 to $500 per adult. Membership fees for junior and senior players are usually reduced. In addition to an annual fee, members may be expected to pay additional fees for robot training sessions, private or group coaching, clinics, tournaments and league play.

Table Tennis Paddles

Ping Pong was introduced to the United States when Parker Brothers bought the trademarked name from English manufacturer J. Jaques & Son Ltd. after 1901. T

he name 'Ping Pong' was used to describe the English game of Table Tennis when it was played with high-end, Jaques-branded equipment. Today, however, the sport is officially recognized as P table tennis; only those who play at the hobby-level use the term 'ping pong.'

The sport of Table Tennis is governed by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

Ping Pong Table and Balls

Ping pong is played on a table that measures 9' long x 5' wide x 30' high. A net measuring 6 inches high divides the table into two halves and extends over each edge of the table by 6 inches.

Two or four players use paddles to hit a ball back and forth to each other, also known as a 'rally.' The balls used for official tournaments now measure 40mm in diameter, are made of celluloid and weigh 2.7 grams. 38mm balls were once the standard, but that changed after the 2000 Olympics. 40mm balls are slower and spin less. It has been suggested that the move to the larger ball was due, in part, to being able to market table tennis matches for television. 40mm balls show up better onscreen, and the slower balls encourage a longer rally, which keeps the viewer interested in the game play. The highest quality Ping Pong balls have a three-star rating, which represents consistency in relation to their bounce

Ping Pong Table Dimensions If you are thinking about a Table tennis Table for your game room, there are several considerations regarding their dimensions. Not only are the Tennis Table dimensions themselves essential for determining how much room is required, but the size of the tabletop is significant also.

Organizations that regulate the game around the world have devised the standard suggested sizes of equipment utilized in tournament competitions. Several of these standards pertain to the majority of ping pong tables available for purchase. In spite of this, some of the tables sold for home use deviate from these standard dimensions.

Because of this, it is essential to know precisely what you are getting when you buy your equipment, and being aware of the suggested guidelines for table dimensions will help make sure that you obtain the most value for your investment. In accordance with the International Table Tennis Federation laws, the majority of tables that are used in tournament competition ought to be five feet wide by nine feet long and measure 30 inches from the floor. When you are looking for a home table, you will find a few that differ from these measurements, but for the most part, most come in these same dimensions. When purchasing such a large piece of equipment, it is essential to give some thought to where

Ping Pong Produces Much Healthier Young Children : Tennis.

Ping Pong Is Good For Young Children

Ping Pong And Kids I am a people watcher. I especially enjoy observing them at shopping malls and airport terminals. I realize that folks have always come in various shapes and sizes, but over the last couple years I have noticed a rather alarming trend in children: many of them are actually obese. I've recently read too that many of these children are being diagnosed with diabetes. The sad part of all this, in my opinion, is that it is preventable!

There are a number of factors that are fostering obesity in our children
  • One huge reason is that they spend many hours a week watching TV, playing video games, using the Internet and talking or texting on cell phones.

  • Many schools have shortened or eliminated recess.

  • In certain neighborhoods, especially in the big cities, parents are reluctant to let their children play outdoors because they don't believe it's safe.

  • Play time is losing out to other activities, lessons, and classes-everything from karate to piano lessons, to Girl Scouts or ballet. Expectations are being placed on children to excel in all kinds of extracurricular activities, and they still have to do their school homework assignments.

All of this results in diminished unstructured play time.

Children need time to play with other children to get social interaction. Socially inept young people are more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression and attention-deficit disorder in addition to obesity. The American Academy of Pediatrics says that unstructured play fosters innovation and creative thinking. Let's allow our kids to be kids. Allow them to relax

The Benefits Of Table Tennis | Pong : Ping :- Ping Pong.

Table Tennis Benefits

Benefits of Table Tennis I am an avid ping ponger. You might laugh but I'm not kidding. My Table Tennis Table gets a lot of love, at least a few times a week. I mentally prepare myself by playing "Eye Of The Tiger, lacing up my sneakers and stretching out my arms before each match. 2nd only to soccer throughout the world, ping pong is a wildly well-liked sport that has many physical and social advantages when played relatively consistently. Research show that ping pongers live longer.

This post will take you over the fundamental rules of playing before breaking down the benefits of the game in hopes that you'll enter the world of ping pong playing.

Buying an outdoor Ping Pong table represents a significant investment, so it's important to get the one that's right for you. From a distance most look the same, so what should you look out for? Before handing over your hard-earned cash, follow these 3 simple rules to get the best one for you.

Table Tennis is a great pursuit. It's fast, challenging and great fun. Table tennis equipment manufacturers recognize that many of us want to play outdoors, and nowadays there are a great variety of tables to help make it possible to enjoy the good weather and some Ping Pong excitement.

It can be bewildering trying to navigate your way through the choices on offer, but here are 3 quick rules to keep in mind when considering buying an outdoor Ping Pong table. 1. Weatherproofing. Make sure it has weatherproof playing surface. Traditionally, table tennis tables are made of wood.

Beginner's Strategies For Ping Pong

Ping Pong Strategies

As for the balance factor, you'll need to be moderately fast on your feet to hop from one side of the tennis table to the other. This doesn't really require any running around, just minor modifications to your stance

Steer To Ping Pong Table Dimensions - Tennis : Tables.

Ping Pong Table Dimensions

Ping Pong Table Dimensions If you are considering a ping pong Table for your home, there are many factors concerning standard its dimensions to take into consideration. Not only are the dimensions of the table itself important to determine how much space you will need, but the size of the its top is important as well. Agencies that regulate the sport of table Tennis worldwide have devised many standard recommended dimensions that regulate the Tables used in competitive tournaments.

Many of these standards apply to most ping pong Tables on today's market. However, there are still some that are sold for home use that deviate from these recommendations. For this reason, it is important to know exactly what you are getting when you go to buy a table Tennis table, and knowing the recommended guideline dimensions can help ensure that you get the most for your money.

According to International Table Tennis Federation laws, most Table Tennis Tables that are used in tournaments should be five feet wide by nine feet long and stand 30 inches from the ground. When you are shopping for a home apparatus, you will find a handful that deviate from these dimensions, but in general, most will have these measurements.

When buying a ping pong table, it is important to consider where in your house you will keep it. If you plan on storing it in a basement or garage, it is important to consider whether the materials of its construction are moisture resistant. In this instance, it may be beneficial to look at an outdoor table or one that is coated with a water resistant coating, as moisture can cause warping and lead to a decreased lifespan of the table. No matter where you

Table Tennis Training - Preparing For Endurance Tournaments

Table Tennis Training

There are several tournaments each year (Baltimore Teams, National Team Trials, Giant Round Robins, for example) that require more than just a few matches.

However, when a tournament demands more matches than you are accustomed to and you surpass your threshold, the end result is physical and mental fatigue and may result in losses you wouldn't normally take.

To prepare yourself physically as well as mentally prior to one of these tournaments, go to the Table Tennis club early in the morning on a weekend and stay the entire day. Play as many matches as possible and do your best to keep your concentration the entire time. This will most likely prove to be very difficult in the beginning, but after a few weekends, you'll become accustomed to the increased workload. This dedicated practice will really pay off when you're playing that last match of an endurance tournament with great mental and physical strength while your opponent is succumbing to fatigue.

Table Tennis Training - Pushing Yourself Further in the Amazing Game ofPing Pong

Table Tennis Training

Ping Pong is a fun and exciting game, and best of all, it is fairly easy that practically anyone can play it. However, since Table Tennis is a breeze to play a lot of people do not see the need to get proper training for it. This is okay if you just want to have some fun hitting the ball once in a while, but if you really want to be good in the game, then you really have to take Table Tennis training.

A lot of people are hesitant to undergo Table Tennis training since it is somewhat unusual. Most people do not view it like swimming lessons that a lot of kids really go through. But like any sport, table tennis training follows a flow of discipline. Here are some things you need to consider when you plan to take table tennis lessons:

1. Frequency - the frequency of your table tennis training really depends on you - on what your goal is, how much you can commit, your urge to improve, your schedule, your budget, among many others. But generally, if you want to improve your game you should have at least one training session each week, and then another session to play as well. Lessons are useless if you do not practice what you learn. But playing too much can also be counter productive. You have to carefully study your schedule and spell out how much you can devote for your table tennis training. Stick with the schedule you have set to ensure that you would be getting the most from your training.

2. Duration of the training - how long you train is another consideration. It is usually recommended to train for just an hour to an hour and half like other kinds of sports. If you go longer than that, your concentration can suffer and you might even grow tired of the sport instead of loving it.

3. Training style - the type of lesson really depends on your level as a table tennis player. If you are a beginner, you should have a good foundation on the technique for hitting the table with the ball. This sounds to be too basic a task, but it is the very foundation of table tennis and a lot of amateur players miss out on this one. Table training should be mastered really well for other techniques to be learned. This level of training decreases the chances of your hitting the ball into other directions.

Once you are able to ground yourself with table training you can work on the next most important strokes for your training. These include the backhand counterhit, the forehand counterhit, the backhand push, the forehand push, the serve, and the serve return. Without these things you cannot expect to move to the next, intermediate, level of table tennis playing.

You can also include in your table tennis training some of the fun stuff - the tricks of the trade that make table tennis all the more exciting. This includes the lobbing, smashing, the forehand loop and the backhand loop. Soon enough you can mix these strokes up to give an impressive game.

4. Attitude - no matter how much training you take for how long and what kind, you would not succeed in table tennis if you do not have the attitude to follow through. Table tennis is very much a mental sport as it is a physical sport. You mind has to be very active as everything happens quickly, even quicker than in most other types of sports.

The attitude is also very much important during table tennis training. You have to focus on what you are training for at a certain time. You should set your mind to learn the strokes, that you are practicing. You should also pay attention to your trainer or your training partner. You might have to take turns feeding balls to each other and when it is your turn be good at it as you would hitting the ball. You can learn from all aspects of training if you put your mind to it.

Table tennis training may not really be that important for most people. But if you really want to be good in this game, it is something that is inevitable for you to go through.

The Origin Plus Evolution Of Table Tennis

Table Tennis Origin And Evolution

Table Tennis Evolution Much like its bigger version, Table Tennis is played with the same basic rules as Tennis. If you are a sports buff and has devoted quite a number of hours in front of the boob tube watching sports channels, its highly likely that you have watched a couple of games of table tennis.

Played in a wooden table, usually green like lawn tennis, Ping Pong as what some people refer to it based on the sound the ball makes as it bounces, utilizes wooden paddles with rubber surfaces and a plastic ball instead of the big rackets and the furry green ball used in Tennis.

Ping Pong has become very popular, not only because it is easy to learn how to play it and it is extremely fun, but also because it can easily be played even with just enough space to handle the table. It doesn't require big courts like Tennis and most garages can be setup with a table for ping pong.

Also, you don't need to buy very fancy and expensive equipment just to have a Ping Pong set. It is only the table that requires some high cost but compared to other sports, the cost is not much. Then, all you would need is the paddle, a set of balls and you're good to go. The History of Table Tennis Table Tennis first started out in the 1880's when affluent Victorians in England where looking for a sport that they can play indoors. Taking the cue from the popular Tennis, this young men utilized a table and used make shift paddles from the box lids of cigarette boxes and an improvised ball made out of strings or a cork. Enter the 1900's.

With the game's popularity growing, manufacturers of table tennis equipment have made vast improvements out of the crude ones first used and started the manufacture of these new equipments for sale. The paddles known made use of custom shaped wood and rubbers where attached to make the game slower. The balls were known manufactured from celluloid making them rounder and bounce better. With the commerciality of the game and its equipments, more and more people where able to discover and enjoy

Table Tennis Training - The Influences Of Focus

More On Table Tennis Training

The game of Table Tennis requires focus and concentration, and if you often find yourself consistently blowing your 8-4 or 9-5 leads, chances are the problem is simply a lack of concentration. Losing games when you have a great lead is actually a very common problem, but it is a problem that can be easily helped by improving your concentration.

So, how can you improve your concentration? Well, practice makes perfect; so, as easy as it might sound, practice concentrating! Every time you go out to practice at the Ping Pong table, you are developing habits that will surely surface in a match. For example, if you are doing drills with a partner and your focus is great when it's your turn to do the drill but not so great when you are not doing the drill, then you are practicing very short periods of concentration followed by lapses in concentration.

In a Table Tennis game or match, this habit of fluctuating concentration often translates into good focus in the beginning of a game helping you to build a lead, and then a lapse of concentration resulting in a loss of the game. To overcome this bad habit, next time you practice, make sure

Table Tennis Training - Table Tennis (Or Ping Pong) TournamentPreparation

Table Tennis Training

There are many different philosophies about how to best prepare yourself for a table Tennis tournament. In fact, because preparation can be highly individualized and very personal, it may take many years of experience before you will know precisely how to train prior to competition. A lot of this discovery is a result of trial and error, but I will give you a few suggestions surrounding the use of the Newgy Robo-Pong Table Tennis Training Robot that may speed up the tournament preparation process.

When running drills on the Newgy Robot, make sure you incorporate drills utilizing the random placement feature. Drilling against random placement of the ball will best prepare you for what you will be up against in a match and will, therefore, prove to be more productive than training with ball placement that is not random.

Also, you probably have many different drills to work on which focus on both your strengths and weaknesses, but in the day prior to your competition, try to focus mostly on drilling to your strengths. This may seem counterintuitive because it seems like you will be losing all your points through your weaknesses, but a strength that is well-trained can be a massive confidence booster that can even flow over into your weaknesses. This does not mean to neglect training to your weakness altogether. These aspects of your game certainly need attention, but to focus on them right before you compete may lower your confidence, and that lack of confidence will definitely hurt your strengths.

So, to best prepare for competition, remember to drill with the Newgy Ping Pong Training Robot set on random placement to best simulate a game situation, and focus on your strengths a day or two before you compete to ensure that your confidence is soaring and you are ready for whatever your opponent dishes out.
